Case Study: Transfield Services - Estimated Norms
Transfield Services is a leading Australian private investment and development company with a record of achievement in engineering.
Before
Estimated Norms software is a popular tool which has been extensively used by hydrocarbon division in many company’s projects. Being a Microsoft Access based application, this software quickly became overloaded and caused disruption in use, because of large number of users
Original developers left long time and the system required upgrades and enhancements. Unicon Software was asked to take ownership of this application and upgrade it according to requirements.
Solution
We have made significant effort in understanding and investigating the best way of improving this application, and as part of this initial project we upgraded data storage by moving data and application logic from Microsoft Access database to SQL server 2005. This allowed more users to be able to access software and use it. This application became even more popular tool, and to further enhance its availability to users, we were asked to internationalise this system and integrate it with other systems within organisation.
After
With help of Unicon Software, Estimated Norms was to become a major tool for performing work estimations within Transfield.
All this has been achieved at very reasonable budget and delivered on time.
Case Study: Service Station Supplies - Web and Mobile ordering system
Before
Sales reps while on customer site called head office to verbally put an order. The order was manually entered into backoffice system by office staff. Order from customers will be also entered manually in to company’s ERP system. This introduced significant overhead in order processing as well as errors and double handling
Solution
Unicon Software proposed to resolve the sales reps situation by implementing ProField Sales Manager system, which is mobile ordering system, developed internally by Unicon. Software. The software runs on Microsoft mobile devices and enables sales reps electronically take orders, access customer details and balances, and to have latest products and prices information.
In order to improve customer ordering process, we have implemented ProFiled web portal which allowed customers to place orders, browse products and check their balances and payments.
Both modules has been seamlessly integrated with company’s ERP system, so that each order once completed would appear on the printer in warehouse to be picked up by staff.

Case Study: Selmac broking - Sales Management System
Selmac broking is a pharmacy distribution business located in Victoria.
Before
Selmac broking were using in house developed sales management system to manage their day to day operations. This system has been developed long time ago and was no longer supported. Company also had mobile sales reps which required a tool to automate order taking processing.
Solution
As part of this project it was decided that Unicon Software will develop web based Sales Management system to replace current one. Selmac broking will also use mobile sales management system, provided by Unicon Software. Both systems will be seamlessly integrated in order to reduce data double handling.
After
Selmac staff has the ability to to access the system from anywhere, sales reps can use handheld devices to build orders, access products and customer information. Double handling has been reduced by full system integration. Comprehensive reporting enables better business management and predictability
this has being delivered on very limited budget and tight deadlines. The sSystem is being used for a number of years without any problems.
